Prove the Proof

Real users. Real sessions. Real numbers that mean something.

Hey TableTalkers — Conner here. Quick housekeeping: we’ve switched our newsletter platform from Squarespace to Beehiiv - if anything looks a little different, that’s why! Let’s us know what’s working and what isn’t! We’re still working out the kinks.

I've spent the last few weeks talking about what we're building and why we're building it. This week I want to show you proof that it's working — not metrics from a deck, not a projected graph, but actual moments from actual people using the app right now.

This is the kind of week where you stop nodding along to your own thesis and start believing it.

USER INSIGHT

"I Didn't Have to Argue With Anyone. It Just Worked."

"My friend group has five people with completely different tastes — one's vegetarian, one won't eat anywhere without a good cocktail list, and two of them always go quiet when you ask what they want. I used SoGo before our Saturday dinner and just sent everyone the recommendation. Nobody pushed back. We went, it was great, and for the first time in a long time I didn't spend 45 minutes in a group chat just to end up at the same place we always go."

— Beta 2 user, Chicago, IL

She found SoGo through a friend who'd been in Beta 1 — pure word of mouth, no ad, no prompt. That tracks with everything we've seen since the beginning: almost every user in our beta came in through someone who trusted the person who told them about it.

The detail that hit me hardest in her message wasn't the part about The Concierge. It was "nobody pushed back." That's the whole problem we set out to solve — not just finding a restaurant, but getting a group of people with different preferences to actually agree on one. The decision layer. The part that's been invisible to every other app in this space.

We've been saying for a while that we're building a social dining tool, not a restaurant search tool. That quote is what the difference feels like when it's working.

ENGAGEMENT SIGNAL

Three Sessions. One Day. One User. Here's What That Actually Means.

Last week, one of our Beta 2 users opened SoGo three times in a single day. Not three times in a week — three times between roughly noon and 10pm on a Saturday.

Here's what that day looked like: midday, he used The Concierge to find a spot for a solo lunch near his apartment in the West Loop. Late afternoon, he came back into the app — opened a DineList he'd been building, added two new spots he'd seen on Instagram, and checked whether either of them had brunch hours on Sundays. Then at night, he used Party Chat to coordinate dinner with three friends visiting from out of town and ran a Concierge query for the group.

3x

SESSIONS IN A SINGLE DAY — ACROSS SOLO DINING, PERSONAL CURATION, AND GROUP COORDINATION

Three different use cases. Three different problems. Same app. That's not a power user quirk — that's the product working the way we always imagined it would. SoGo isn't a tool you open when you're stuck. It's becoming the place you go anytime a meal is involved.

One of our Beta 3 PMF targets is 3–5 sessions per week per active user. That's the signal we're chasing — not because the number looks good in a deck, but because it means people have folded SoGo into the actual rhythm of their dining life. When someone returns to the app at noon and again at 10pm on a Saturday, that's not novelty. That's habit forming.

One user, one day. But we've started to see the pattern repeat. And patterns don't lie.

BETA ACCESS

We're Opening 15 More Spots. Here's How to Claim One.

Beta 3 is targeting 500 active users by Summer 2026. We're building toward that number deliberately — not flooding the app with signups we can't support, but adding the right people at a pace that lets us actually learn from them.

This week we're opening 15 spots. Not 150. Not "first come, first served, good luck." Fifteen people who are ready to use the app for real — bring it into their actual social dining life, eat out with groups, tell us what's working and what isn't.

If you're in Chicago, Charlotte, Southeast Michigan, or Collier County Florida and you eat out with people — you're exactly who this is built for. Apply through the link below, and we'll be in touch within a few days with install instructions.

What you get as a Beta 3 user:
  1. Full access to The Concierge — AI-powered recommendations built around your group's actual preferences

  2. DineLists, Party Chat, and your full Social Dining Profile — the tools 150+ users are already building habits with

  3. Direct line to the founding team — your feedback shapes what ships in Beta 3, not what we think might be a nice feature

  4. Early access to every new feature before it rolls out broadly — including AI enhancements we're shipping specifically for Beta 3

Fifteen spots. When they're gone, they're gone until the next cycle. Grab one while it's open.

INVEST IN SOGO

16 investors in. $23.2K committed. WeFunder is live.

If the signal in this newsletter means something to you — the user quote, the three-session day, the habit forming — you can back the company building this. Early bird valuation cap is $19.8M. Community crowdfunding, starting from a small minimum. Same terms as everyone else at the table.

Every week I sit down to write this and I try to be honest about where we are — not better than it is, not worse than it is. This week it's genuinely good. Real users, real patterns, real traction.

We've got a long way to go to 500 users and PMF. But the proof is starting to show up in the data before we even go looking for it — and that's exactly the kind of problem I want to have.

See you next Wednesday.
